An Introduction from the Executive Principal
I am extremely proud to welcome you to Trinity Academy.
Our vision is to be ‘outstanding within outstanding.’ What this means is that as a community we have a relentless focus on developing and being the very best we can be for the students in our care. As Executive Principal, my job is to ensure that we achieve this. Our Christian values of Empathy, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility are at the core of our success. We may be a large school, but our community is a family. This family feel is often commented upon by visitors to the academy, along with the calm, purposeful atmosphere.
At the heart of our success is our mantra of ‘Culture + Consistency = Excellence’. It means we do the simple things well, all of the time, with a real focus on the basics. Ensuring there is excellent discipline in and around the academy allows students to be, and feel, safe and teachers can focus on cutting edge teaching and learning without distractions; this learning environment is absolutely essential to our success. We have the highest expectations and aspirations for our students so they can become outstanding members of society; in return, our young people enjoy a culture where they are rewarded and their successes are celebrated. Education opens up doors for life. I strongly believe that all young people have the right to the very best education. It is a startling fact that 70% of the most professional jobs in the UK are filled by those who received a private education – yet only 4% of the population are privately educated. We are here to change this.
We are proud to be ‘Trinity Halifax’. Our record-breaking GCSE results are evidence of the high academic achievements of our students, and are of course viewed as the pinnacle of a school’s success. In 2017, our Progress 8 score is +0.65 which puts us in the top 3% of schools nationally and means students on average achieve over half a grade better in 8 subjects than their peers in other schools.
I would like to emphasise that our results are only part of our story. When we talk about students flourishing, we do not just mean academically. Whilst results are of course crucial, we provide endless opportunities in areas such as the performing arts, sports, music and residential experiences. All of these ensure that our students receive unique experiences inside and outside of the classroom and grow into well rounded individuals.
As one of the country’s leading academies we are in the vanguard of school improvement. We are the flagship academy in the Trinity Multi Academy Trust, a national sponsor (which means we support other schools), a designated teaching school (Trinity Teaching School Alliance) and a Maths Hub of excellence (The White Rose Maths Hub). We have received two outstanding judgments since opening and an outstanding SIAMS (CofE) inspection.
I am extremely proud that I have been part of Trinity Academy’s journey from the start, and have grown personally and professionally alongside the academy as an organisation. I continue to work closely with Michael Gosling, the founding Principal and now the CEO of the Trust and whilst Michael’s role has changed significantly, we are delighted that he continues to support Trinity Academy Halifax on its journey.
Whether you are a future student, parent, member of staff or an interested member of the local community, as Principal I look forward to hearing how Trinity Academy has, will be, or could be, part of your future.
Mr James Franklin-Smith
