More and more employers including leading firms like Royal Mail, Ernst & Young and Channel 4 are recognising the huge benefits apprentices are bringing to their workplaces.
Rt Hon Anne Milton MP, Minister for Skills
The world of apprenticeships is increasingly developing into an established post-18 pathway, specifically with the recent introduction of Higher and Degree apprenticeships. Our students are given access to wide-ranging information on apprenticeships and opportunities through Unifrog, PPT discussions and our ‘Apprenticeships and Opportunities’ board in the upstairs study room. The UCAS booklet also has a number of tasks that are focused on Higher and Degree apprenticeships and offers exercises to help students gather appropriate content to create a good CV.
Our connection with C&K Careers is also beneficial for the apprenticeship pathway as the career advisors offer support and guidance in the following areas:
- CVs and covering letters.
- Interview preparation.
- Interview techniques (through mock interviews).
- Labour market information.
Students who wish to go down the apprenticeship pathway will follow the same timeline as UCAS applicants for finalising their CVs and will begin to apply for apprenticeships in January ready for a September start. Subject staff may be required to contribute towards reference writing for apprenticeships also.
